Bed Bugs
Bed bugs are insects that reproduce rapidly, taking advantage of favorable conditions such as warm environments, infested textiles, and hiding places in cracks or crevices. Their development is promoted by the availability of hiding spaces and continuous access to food sources like human or pet blood.
What is a bed bug infestation?
Bed bugs tend to hide in beds and feed on humans while they sleep. They feed exclusively on blood, which they require to grow and develop. These pests can be found virtually anywhere in Barcelona where people gather, including hotels, schools, offices, stores, and even public transportation.
Cimex lectularius can travel long distances. They hide in luggage, clothing, and bedding, spreading easily wherever these items are transported. This explains why their infestation spreads so quickly.
Additionally, identifying bed bug bites is often challenging, as they can be easily mistaken for bites from other pests. This makes detecting infestations difficult and allows the bugs to reproduce unnoticed.
